New California Consumer Privacy Act Training

New California Consumer Privacy Act Training

Vubiz announces a brand-new course to address new compliance laws regarding consumer privacy. The new online course, “California Consumer Privacy Act,” launched this week in response to growing demand from companies that must comply with measures outlined in the newly passed bill.

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) enhances privacy rights and consumer protection for California residents. The CCPA becomes effective January 1, 2020. Since many California companies already had to comply with Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation last year, some businesses are better prepared. Still, the CCPA, also known as AB 375, is the strictest privacy law enacted by a U.S. state.

The Act has significant implications for individuals and organizations. The bill grants California residents the right to be informed about how companies collect and use their data, and allows them to request that their data be deleted, among other protections.

The law would apply to all businesses in the state that generate annual gross revenue over $25 million, derive at least half of their annual revenue from selling customers’ personal information, or buy, sell, or share personal information from at least 50,000 consumers, households, or devices.

The new course by Vubiz outlines the key provisions of the CCPA, highlights the new rights afforded to California consumers, and examines the implications for organizations doing business in California.

The course also recognizes the rights afforded to California consumers by the CCPA, reviews the implications for businesses, outlines compliance requirements, identifies sanctions and penalties for non-compliance, and provides a comprehensive overview of how the Act protects consumers, their personal information, and businesses that trade in personal information.
